The inaugural edition of the Resonate Music Award has finally found a winner. Gowri, a solo bluegrass/jazz artist from Pune has won the coveted prize. A collective decision of the four immensely talented judges Nolan Lewis, Sahil Makhija, Chris Avinash and Deepak Rao, Gowri wins recording time for a full length album at Christortion recording studios owned by Chris Avinash.

Apart from the studio time the other lucrative aspects of this deal includes unflinching support from the judges to market the finished album and a 30% discount from Furtados for future musical equipment purchase.

According to Deepak Rao(Founder-Resonate Music Award) “ It was a tough call to decide the winner as most of the entries were pretty solid. But Gowri’s demo stood out in terms of quality and spoke of her determination to breakthrough as a solo artist.”

Gowri, the winner adds that this award was a combination of the right time, place and people. “I pretty much finished writing another song and was wondering what to do with all these tracks, and then the Award happened. Kudos to the team at Resonate for getting ahead with this initiative, and for believing in the potential of my music. I hope all this results in the production of some great music and a great album” says this talented singer who is inspired by the likes of Joni Mitchell and Janis Joplin.

Two other bands who have caught the attention of the judges are Guillotine from New Delhi and Dark Horizon from Assam. They receive a special mention from the judges and the support of the Resonate Music Award. Details of the support are still being worked out but the future of these bands looks promising.
