The songs of India are as varied as the land itself. Passionate independent musicians in various little pockets all over the country create and sing these songs to audiences in those pockets. RadioVeRVe aims to be the central location where all these songs are heard by the world.
RadioVeRVe (http://radioverve.com) is a 24×7 online radio station that plays only Independent music from India. Our aim is be the one stop destination for all independent music of all genres made in India.
Music, especially contemporary music in India has been progressing at a stupendous rate over the past few years and today it has reached a point where one cannot but sit up and take notice. A wave of freshness and originality has been welling up for sometime now which should soon reach its peak. RadioVeRVe was formed at the beginning of this wave and has been trying to take the goodness of this music to the masses in a form that is appealing to them.
Today, RadioVeRVe is all set to ride this wave and change the face of entertainment in India. Drawing on the experience of the many years of intimate involvement with the music scene, the technology advantage and the limitless possibility of the world wide web, RadioVeRVe aims to be at the forefront of the ”Indian Independent Music Revolution”.
Why RadioVeRVe?
We started the station because of our love for music and we can honestly vouch for the fact that there are some incredible musicians out there making some amazing music.
For an artiste today, the stage has moved beyond his/her neighbourhood and music circles. The Internet has made it possible for us to reach places and people we never even knew about.
RadioVeRVe takes every artist on to that world stage and moreover on an equal playing field. We are driven by the music that our artistes make and like the cliche goes, its all about the music.
How does the artiste benefit?
Each artiste who we play on our station will have complete control over the music. We do not claim any copyright to the songs we play. The artistes can have the songs removed at anytime with sufficient notice and are always free to add more songs to the station.
We DO NOT allow people to download songs and also, we DO NOT play songs at the same quality as an audio CD since that will deter people trying to copy the music as it plays.
Technologically, we are far superior to any other station that plays from India on the Internet. We are available to listen not just on your computer but also on a variety of Internet enabled devices like cell phones and Internet Radio players etc.
Our focus on the music and the artistes means that we are open always to suggestions and help in promotion for any artiste on our station.
What we need from artistes and music lovers
Firstly, your music, that is what makes the station. We need your
music and your permission to play it. And like already
explained, we will not now or ever claim any ownership over music that we play on our
station.
We need your explicit written consent that the music you give us to play is original or in case they are not, then the music that you give us is copyright free.
At the moment, RadioVeRVe is not a profit making venture, but there are plans to do that soon. Therefore, at this time, we will not be able to pay any royalty for the music we play, though we are planning to in the near future. You will hear from us about that very very soon.
Lastly, we need your whole hearted support and encouragement! We need you to try and help us in our effort to publicise your music. We would love to hear from you, to talk with you about things that you like to see on the site and things we should be doing but have not been doing yet.
Any support we can get by means of advertisements for us or having a RadioVeRVe banner up at shows you play or events you organise will go a long way in getting the word out.
